While part of me wants to hate this time of year, I cant help but love it.
Spending time with family, eating oodles of sweets and general over-indulging are right up my alley. And since the holidays are here whether we like it or not, theres no use living in denial. To help get you in the mood, you can spruce up your apartment with an evergreen wreath or tree. My tiny place has no space for a tree, so a wreath is a nice compromise. It adds a bit of greenery to the place and the smell is like nothing else.
Windy Maples Farm, who has been a part of the Greenmarket since its inception thirty years ago, is at Union Square Greenmarket on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Theyre selling wreathes and Christmas trees there until December 23rd. And while youre there you can stop by the Union Square Holiday Market to further embrace Americas commercialism and get everyone checked off your list. Your inner-Scrooge needs a vacation until January, when the weathers cold and the Greenmarkets quiet. At least then well have something to complain about.

Heidi, Martins Pretzels are my fave! If you're really nice, sometimes the guys give you some free broken pretzles to much while you shop the rest of the market.
LOVE THE MARKET, CAN'T STAND THE OVER-PROCESSED PEOPLE WHO SHOP THERE. FUNNY HOW SOMETHING SO ORGANIC COULD ATTRACT SUCH PROCESSED BEINGS.
Chris, I love that suggestion. And if you go to martinspretzels.com you can see Mennonite women in bonnets (they're words, not mine!) twisting pretzels.
