The next ten days are going to be quiet at Apartment Therapy, Apartment Therapy LA, and The Kitchen as all three sites take a break. Alec in LA will be back after New Year's and Max and I will be back on January 9th. From the techie world of NYC blogging, that is going to be our vacation, and we can hardly wait.
But never fear, we're going to have a few open threads running so that people can stay in touch with one another and Jill will be watching the pot to make sure it doesn't boil over.
Keep your holiday memories flowing, make sure to take pictures, and don't be shy about posting recipes in the open threads. We're all here to help each other out.
Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!
I made that hot chocolate with ancho chiles.
yum.
Steeped one torn up chile with the milk, then whipped it up in the blender with the choco tablet and strained it. My chocolate was the cocoa-almond-cinnamon-sugar kind from Oaxaca. The ancho was very raisiny, and gave a nice depth to the flavor without taking over. Next stop will be adding something with more heat, maybe chipotle.
i'd be a little afraid of adding chipotle to chocolate
it seems to me that the smokiness might add an unpleasant (and this is the first time i've EVER used this phrase) bacon-y flavor
perhaps some serrano for a little bite?
or even habanero, the slight floral-y-ness of habanero might be just lovely
at a resto i worked at, the pastry chef would make a habanero-passion fruit sauce to serve with gelatos and sorbets that was simply to die for!!!
I just wanted to report that Luigi did make it to Chicago for New Year's Eve and we had a fantastic dinner party for 7. Hopefully, Luigi will agree to make it an annual event -- and I will buy more chairs!
