Some Small News From Our Small Home

baby-bedroom.jpg
Dear Dear Readers, some of you may have noticed that I have been absent for several days. I had a baby. Her name is Ursula Bayes and I can't think of anything more delicious I've ever cooked up.

Here is Maxwell's account of the last few days...

And as for me, I write this in a sweet moment of quiet, with Sula at my side and my mom making lentil soup and a pasta salad with argulua and pesto made from my own home-grown basil. Life is sweet, especially here in my new little kitchen.

Our four new editors, Chris, Faith, Grant and Vanessa, have gracefully taken over in my absence, and will continue to bring new spice to the site. Many thanks to them, and to our warrior woman, Jill, for keeping the site alive as we were laboring... and laboring... and laboring... and finally birthing.

Wishing you and your family all the best. Cheers!

Congratulations. That's a good name all together. I wouldn't say so if it sounded terrible but it sounds great and better the more I think about it. Good job!

Dear Sara Kate,
So happy that all is well. She is sweet and beautiful. Did I miss the size (weight, length)? Sula is a wonderful exotic name (Ursula is terrific too!). You were on my mind over the days of your labor. Congratulations!

A very new mom came to my house for a birthday party. She wore a large cabbage leaf in her nursing bra to cure engourgement. She is botony professor at a large university. (No, its not some wierd southern folk medicine.) Thought that might be interesting to a food expert and new mom. My friend says it works.
