Food substitutions, irradiation, prices going up - if you can grow something yourself or buy it locally and organically, that would be the way to go. For about $2.70, I bought some Renee's Garden Baby Butter Lettuce seeds and within about two weeks I had beautiful small heads of lettuce. They can grow in small pots and don't take up much space on a patio. I also grow my own herbs, avoiding the outrageous prices at the grocery store. Start small, with something you think you can handle - you will save money and have the pleasure of being able to control what is happening with your food!

I encourage the Champagne makers to use lighter bottles. Even with the proposed changes, their bottle will probably be heavier than most wine bottles so they will keep their edge.
