BaconCamp Is Coming!

2009_07_16-BaconCamp.jpgWatch out, bacon lovers. Bacon Camp may be coming to a city near you. And what is Bacon Camp? It's a whole day of sharing and learning about bacon, inspired by the community-driven learning event known as BarCamp. If you just love bacon or want to show off your bacon in recipes, artwork, song, or demonstration, then look for the BaconCamps about happen in Seattle, Miami, Washington D.C., Columbus, and a few other cities.

While we love bacon dearly, we're not entirely sure we want to spend a whole day talking about it. But we have to admit that it would be a pretty great way to meet some other food-obsessives in town, and hey — free bacon!

Do you love bacon enough to attend BaconCamp? If you want to find out more, or set up a BaconCamp of your own, then check out the official website:

Mike Daisey recently did a one night monologue on bacon during his "mysteries of the unexplained" series at Joe's Pub in NYC. It was sold out.

One of the hardest things about being vegan is that I miss bacon. Other things on the list, cheese and frozen custard. But bacon is definitely super yummy. The smell almost makes me want to kill a pig myself. Now all I can think about is an open faced grilled cheese with bacon, german mustard and a slice of tomoto. Sigh.

I bet I could start up a BaconCamp in New Zealand. We love our bacon round here.

@sasharenee - I feel your pain. I was a vegetarian for a LONG time (and a vegan for about 5 of those years) and my final straw? Yes, it was bacon. It's funny, you wouldn't think the fatty, "Uber"meat would be the thing you'd want to break you... but talking to others, it was bacon too.
