Tell us about your outdoor project and how you enjoy it: I am lucky enough to have a nice private roof area in New York so I decided to turn it into a garden where I could relax and grow food and plants. I enjoy gardening a lot so the process of making and maintaining the garden is enjoyable on its own.
How did you create it? I didn't want the garden to look too formal so I created it as I went along. I bought some of the furniture and trees and then started to grow herbs and tomatoes. Eventually it expanded to soybeans, squash, blueberries, strawberries, grapes, figs and peppers. Next year I hope to grow potatoes in sacks. It isn't very pretty but it is great to have your own veggies!
Recommended store, site, product or resource? Red Rose & Lavender, Crest Hardware and Sprout in Brooklyn are great stores for urban gardeners. I really like Seeds of Change brand of organic seeds. My favorite books are Growing Stuff and Organic Gardening For The 21st Century.
I love maple trees. especially when they are on decks and roof gardens. I love your space, and I've been going through your photos, imagining what it looks like once your plants mature.
It's a comfortable and lovely nook you got yourself there.

Adiaphane: Thank you! The plants are growing now and pretty soon my garden will be covered with winter squash leaves and vines. I'm still waiting for my grapes to grow and cover my wall.

I like that you have three different seating options, which translate into even more different views. Of course I'd pick the chair under the Japanese maple myself, and not only because I love maples, but also due to that corner being more lush than the rest of the garden. My partner would give you a big thumbs up on the grill, too. Good luck growing it :)
