Each container of the regular version has 240 calories and 14 grams of fat. Sweet live cultures, that's a lot for six ounces of yogurt.
However. This is genuine, healthy stuff that fills us up, and we're not on the low-fat-is-better bandwagon anyway. Plus, it is so, so good.
We take issue with some of the Greek-style yogurts out there. Often they're simply too thick and pasty—great for using in another recipe (like tzatziki or even popsicles) but a little much by the spoonful.
Liberté is silky, practically fluffy, once you stir it up. We love the kind with the fruit on the bottom (especially the blackberry), which has a texture that's almost like an airy mousse but more fluid. See, it's hard to describe. But where regular yogurt is wet and drippy and Greek yogurt is dense and sticky, this stuff is thick but pillowy and soft.
We couldn't even pause long enough to take a picture of the actual yogurt. Too good!
Who else is a fan of Liberté? We found ours at Whole Foods, but let us know where else it's available.

I'm from Montreal, so it is really nice to see this on AT!
The coffee flavor is my favorite, it is sooooooo good

I had a carton of the plum and it was the most amazing yogurt I'd ever tasted!

That sounds like my all time perfect yogurt. Right down to those 14 grams of fat! Yum! Will be checking out my WF's dairy section next time I'm there.

I love this yogurt! I had to stop getting it though, kinda pricey for me. It is, however, enough calories to be most of a meal, so it's a good once a week lunch treat.

I could eat a container of Liberte a day, it's so good! I love the lemon flavour on top of fresh fruit (white peaches, watermelon & blueberry is my favorite combo).

The lemon and the black cherry are just about my favourite things to eat! I live in Toronto so we can get it pretty much everywhere here.

This is my favourite yogurt as well, some like the dulce de leche are good enough for dessert! I also love the blackberry, and have been using the plain for things like tzatziki for a while now. They also make delicious kefir. Here in the better supermarkets in Victoria, we get the whole Liberte range.

I love the walnut-plum - it's the best yogurt I've ever had. I get it at Whole Foods and our local co-op.

I am from Montreal too and I have to say this yogurt is incredible...even the plain fat free kind can be eaten with a spoon with no additive!!!! Try the fat free plain yogurt with fresh Quebec Strawberries and you will be sold.

Liberté's Mediterranean style yogurt is the ABSOLUTE BEST yogurt on the planet. My personal fave is the lemon.

I am eating the peach and passion fruit flavor as I type! Amazing stuff. If you use Fresh Direct in NYC, they have at least 4 flavors. Random corner stores in Brooklyn have them too, yay!

This is the best stuff ever. It's like mousse. Get the lemon flavor - it's better than lemon meringue pie!!

I also like the low-fat version of Liberté. Unlike most lower-fat products, it's sweetened with fruit juice (and not aspartame -- yuck). It's got 160 calories per serving.
I get mine at the local grocery store -- Gourmet Garage or Citarella. It's cheaper than the other imported yogurts too.

i am from Montreal also and have never tried it. I am off to the grocery store to pick some up!

I heart Liberte Six Grains yogurt in all flavors, but pear is my top choice. I love that the yogurt contains organic grains (rice, oats, buckwheat, etc.) and no added sugar (sweetened with fruit juice). Alas, my local WF discontinued stocking it and my local co-op has never carried it. Boo!
I guess I'll have to travel to Montreal to obtain this 6 oz container of deliciousness. Darn! :)

I discovered this yogurt last year and adore it. It is one of my favourite "alternative" desserts topped with President's Choice chocolate granola...yummy!

Slate just did a review of yogurts and gave this stuff middling marks: http://www.slate.com/id/2231191/

This is our favorite yogurt! I prefer the six grains (esp. pear) but my bf loves the walnut-plum, which is too rich for my taste. I love that it's just sweetened with fruit juice...normal yogurt is too sweet for me now.

I LOVE the vanilla goats milk yogurt by Liberte! Absolutely addicting.

Another vote! I love this brand of yogurt. The lemon flavor is my favorite, but I also really like the coconut.

I live behind one of their production plants and their noise drives me crazy! I've tried their yogurt before but it never really left much of a mark on me. I guess I'll have to try it again.

Completely agree. I love that yogurt, but have not seen it at WF in SF. After a tasting all brands at my local grocer, The Greek Gods (honey flavor) comes closest.

This is one of my favorite snacks of all time; it's just fantastic! The plum walnut and blackberry are what I keep going back to. It's such an indulgence.

another vote for the amazing, amazing walnut-plum.

This stuff is so good, I could eat it without the stuff on the bottom. In fact, I wish I could find it in plain, because a lot of those calories have got to come from the fruit syrup! My favorite, however, is the blackberry.

Best yogurt ever. Try the coconut flavor. It is amazing.

Where do you guys get the lemon one? I've never seen it at my regular grocery stores.

Another Canadian here, this stuff is amazing, Mocha and Dulce de leche are awesome, great for kids (mine need extra calories) with the high milk fat, and so easy to freeze into frozen yogurt.

I LOVE Liberte yogurt and especially the mediterranee but that will go straight to your a**! Their other yogurts are also better than others being creamy without the tart/sour taste that is prominent in other low cal yogurts.

They used to make some with organic maple syrup, but I guess the syrup has become too pricey. But adding my own to natural Liberté is just as good!

Just out of curiosity, were you paid by the company to promote Liberte Yogurt? If not, you should be for your ringing endorsement.
view lona's profile
Iona: No, we are never paid for any endorsements at the Kitchn. I just discovered Liberte (where have I been?) and wanted to pass on a new favorite find...

We have it here in Vermont. Love, love, love it. It was a sad/happy day when they stopped making the slightly bigger containers of the stuff mainly b/c it was still possible to eat the entire container in one sitting. Favorite flavors in our house are blackberry, passion fruit, strawberry and the coffee.
view latenac's profile
This is my all time favourite yogurt (especially the mocha - it's difficult to not eat the whole container in one sitting). I'm Canadian and I never knew Liberte was too!

I love Liberte yogurt, especially the lemon flavour and the applie pie one -- it's amazing and so addictive.
We tend to buy Brown Cow, though, because the boy loves the cream top, and I'm a fan of the maple flavour. It goes really well with cobblers and as a topping for pancakes.

This stuff is amazing, I love having the lemon one with a few crushed Graham crackers as dessert.

The coconut is 270 calories actually. But it's so good I'd serve it for dessert at a dinner party.

Glad to see that you're promoting a product from my part of the world! For me, Liberté yogourt has always been a special treat, only bought when it was on sale. I've been trying to find the perfect coffee flavor (Astro's Balkan coffee is my best) but the caffe latte flavor of Liberté comes in second place.

I couldn't find them anywhere for the longest time in Southern California, but now I see them semi-frequently at certain Whole Foods (Rose/Lincoln), Gelson's, and Bristol Farms (at remarkably good prices too). I love the tanginess of the goat cheese yogurts, the plum walnut, and my new favorite - peach passionfruit! Now i just need to figure out where to find them in the Bay Area.

All time favorite yogurt, fig & walnuts ~ the best. I find it at Mcginnis Sisters in Pa.

I looove Liberte yogurt for it's yummy milky taste. It definitely is an indulgence compared to the nutritional wonders of greek yogurts (fage? chobani? yum!). I have yet to try the mediterranee, but I will soon! I love the grain yogurt for the added texture of the chewy grains (eating yogurt for whole grains is silly). And their goat yogurt (or, "goat fresh cheese") captures goat milk perfection.
