Movies in the Park Menu: Touch of Evil
Chicago

The Chicago Outdoor Film Festival is back tonight with a screening of "Touch of Evil," starring Charlton Heston, Orson Welles and Janet Leigh. Whether you're packing a meal to eat under the stars or settling in with a DVD at home, this 1958 classic calls for a taste escape to the Mexican-U.S. border.

In "Touch of Evil," characters from both sides of the border find themselves in the middle of a scandal that involves murder, kidnapping, a bombing and police corruption. For our meal, we're looking to Tex-Mex cuisine for cross-border flavors that aren't so dangerous, but are sure to please.

Thinking about Tex-Mex food, we immediately remembered an episode of Anthony Bourdain's "No Reservations," where he takes a culinary trip along the Mexican-U.S. border, sampling everything from tacos to chicken-fried steak. And lots of cheese. But for a warm August night, we've lightened it up just a bit:

Whatever you're eating, be sure to have it ready by the time the movie starts. You don't want to miss the three-and-a-half-minute opening tracking shot – It's considered one of the greatest in film history.

The Kitchn -

Your 'movies in the park' ideas are really great! But can you post them earlier? It's too late to use those fabulous recipes for tonight!

I've always wondering about the 'movies in the park'. It seems like a nice idea... until I start imagining hungry mosquitos and wailing children and ringing cell phones. Am I just being pessimistic?
