OK, Windy City, the Chicago Outdoor Film Fest is finally here. We've been looking forward to this all year, and our food is all packed and ready to go for tonight's opening screening of "All About Eve." We've got some olive tapenade, roasted vegetables, a baguette, a little cheese and some ginger snap cookie sandwiches stuffed with honey lemon cream cheese. (Thanks again, Bittman!)
But what we really want to know is – what's in your picnic basket?

My Tuesday picnic group does a potluck sort of thing, so I never know exactly what I'll be eating, but I've taken tuna-potato-salad and white-bean-lime-herb dip and blue corn chips and grilled chicken.
For picnics where it's just my sweetie and me, we usually take a selection of cheeses, some crackers or a baguette, some fruit, and maybe some cookies.

i like to go pretty simple with mainly finger foods: salami, cheese, baguette, grapes, cherries, olives. my one non finger food exception is french potato salad. it's light, refreshing, and because it doesn't have mayo in it i don't worry about it going bad.
