Three Cocktails for Russia Day

2008_06_12-Cocktails.jpgDid you know that today is Russia Day? This is a rather recently established Russian national holiday that celebrates the sovereignty of the united Russia. In honor of this Russian holiday, we have a few cocktails that are cool and refreshing - even for those of us who are not Russian! We're glad to celebrate along, if it means getting to drink one of these...

All three of the cocktails were developed by Russian Standard Original Vodka to celebrate the country’s 18th year of independence. They offered traditional toasts along with the recipes:

“Do dna” – “to the last drop”
“Za vstrechye” – “to being together”
“Za zdorovie” – “to health”

Tolstoy Tang
Ingredients:
2oz Russian Standard Original
1oz lemon juice
Splash of simple sugar syrup

Directions:
Shake with ice and strain into a glass. Garnish with a slice of lemon on the edge of the glass.

Moscow Mule
Ingredients:
2 oz Russian Standard Original
2oz Ginger Ale

Directions:
Pour the ginger ale over ice into a glass. Add Russian Standard Original and stir. Garnish with a slice of lime.

Mango Siberian Sunrise

Juice of half a lime
1 teaspoon of sugar

I agree, and that's really not the traditional recipe, which incorporates ginger beer, not ale, and I think a touch of lime. It should be nice and spicy and gingery.
