Wow. my fridge was disgusting... But!, it's clean and practically empty. So nice. Vacuumed a lot underneath and tried to clean the coils as best I could. I hope it helps it run better. (It's decades old - but does the job. I rent)
I have this one really clean corner amongst the horror and it's great because now I'm really motivated to spread the airy, sunshine-y clean through out the whole room. Hey. I may be a usable kitchen soon! Yay!

My pictures are posted (as Ohm/Marie), I've cleaned the surface of the kitchen and a few cabinets. So far, the biggest casualty of my purging is dried fruit--I had almost-full containers of raisins, dried currants, dried mixed fruit, and a few more. The currants were used once, in a mixed nut appetizer recipe I made to bring to the in-laws' at Christmas 2006.

Time to stop buying dried fruit!

I'm cooking something from the freezer tonight--frozen tortellini and frozen veggies. Not much had to be thrown out, but some of it was getting close.

I'm thinking of rearranging the shelves in my frig. Right now the lowest one (right over the veggie drawers) is really short, so stuff gets lost back there. I'm thinking of making the bottom shelf the tallest, and the upper ones shorter. Maybe the bottles won't fall over as much either!

I decided to go ahead and rearrange the shelves. Before and after pictures up on Flickr.

Ok, I finally made a Flickr page http://www.flickr.com/photos/25016255@N05/
I don't know how to write that in just as a link? Anyway, my name there is msbreez. I got a late start on throwing out the old stuff, but did that tonight along with moving things around. Testing placement to see if I might like a different placement. This is going to be great! Now, to refinish those cupboards!

I confess I have not even started on this. Tonight is the Fresh Direct delivery, and that usually inspires some quick tossing. Maybe I've got it in me to go for the full purge!

Anybody else have little kid(s)? My battery is pretty drained right now but I signed up for the Cure anyway because having an unacceptable kitchen until my toddler leaves for college is, well, unacceptable! I cook a LOT, too. If anybody has tips for finding reserves of energy to tackle household tasks around 9 p.m., I'm all ears.

Like cmcinnyc, I haven't really started yet. I caught up on dishes today, took before pictures (not yet uploaded), and I did a quick fridge clean out, but it needs a more thorough cleaning. I have some free time this week, but I just got a new (to me) sewing machine (a vintage Singer from the 1930's), and I've been playing with that all week. So much fun! This weekend should be productive though, I have a paper to do and that always leads to lots of cleaning while I procrastinate!
Seriously though, I have been thinking a lot about what my goals are. I will probably disappear for most of the section on cooking, as I'm happy with my current cooking skills/habits and that section will be right in the middle of exams/final papers. Mostly I just want to clear out the old cans, organize a few cupboards, and make sure everything is in pretty good order for when we move in a few months. We still have cans that we bought two apartments ago. They will not be coming along to a fourth apartment!
