Kitchen Cure Weekend Report: How Did It Go?
The Kitchen Cure Spring 2009 - Week 3

2009_05_03-Flowers.jpg4-2-kitchncure.gifWeek 3 Assignment: Deep cleaning, special projects, and beautify!
• Cure Clock: 3 weeks remaining (halfway done!)
• Cure Takers: 831

Good morning, Cure-takers! How was this past weekend, and did it help you move forward in your Kitchen Cure? We'd love to see some of what you did in your kitchen, especially something to make it a little more beautiful. Here's a look at my flowers and below there is a dramatic drawer transformation from one of your fellow Cure-Takers. Before we give you your fourth assignment, check in and let us know where you're at.

Here's a peek at mnagare's progress from the Flickr pool: "Discovering doubles of things in my kitchen." Good job at clearing out those extras, mnagare!

It looks like many of you are catching up with the first three weeks' assignments: clearing out pantry and fridge, and clearing out equipment you don't use. How about the deep cleaning, any special projects you've been meaning to get to, and a little beautification, too? Did you put flowers in your kitchen this weekend? We'd love to see them! I took apart a couple bunches of flowers and scattered them through the house in various bouquets and jars, and I saved all the smallest buds for this little bowl of flowers on the kitchen windowsill, right where I can see it when I do dishes.

Meanwhile, here's one more great before/after from mnagare, via the Kitchen Cure Flickr pool -- a cleaned-up utensil drawer!

2009_05_03-Drawers.jpgmnagare says that this drawer went from being "a mess" to "Not totally organized, but so much better. I love cork shelf liners." Good job!

Good job and congrats to all of you who made forward progress in your kitchen! Even if you're not officially following the Cure, or just doing it lightly, we applaud any little bit you do in your kitchen to make it easier to work in and more fun to cook in.

How did your weekend Curing go? Did you work on any storage or organization clean-up? If so, send us photos!

I think we're doing pretty well so far. Definitely looking clean in the kitchen. No before or afters of that which is too bad. I'd like to hang the before picture up on the fridge so that we never let it get that way again.

Put our dish soap in a glass bottle. The Hubby is not too pleased with this. He wants something he can squeeze the soap out of, so we may go back to plastic once this bottle is empty. Definitely looks a lot better though.

Going to stop and get a few essentials at the store on the way home today, including some flowers for my adding something beautiful. I can not keep plants alive in our apartment. I rarely remember or feel justified enough to spend money on flowers, so this is something new for me.

I haven't been doing The Cure, but I have been doing some spring cleaning. I added some bamboo cutlery trays to organize some drawer, wiped down the (very dusty!) tops of the cupboards, cleaned the range hood exhaust filter, and went through all the cupboards to get rid of stuff we're not using.

This last exercise resulted in a more organized pantry at the same time as clearing out a lot of special equipment. Bye bye electric grill, vintage griswold patty molds, cookie press, rotary cheese grater, etc. It's definitely helped to see inspiring tidy pictures on the kitchn. So thanks to all you cure-takers!

The kitchen is nice and clean and much, much better organized. I'm a little behind on beautification because I need to get a clock repaired before it goes up, but I'm looking forward to that! As for flowers, this comes and goes in my place, which is fine. I like daisies on my windowsill but I don't need an added pressure in my life to always have them.

My kitchen, pantry and fridge/freezer are much cleaner and more organized. It is a nice feeling knowing that everything is in its place and it inspires me to keep it that way. I did not get around to beautifying this weekend but have had my eye on a lovely flower pitcher from paperchase that would look perfect in my kitchen.
