We're planning to remodel our kitchen at some point, and we came across these wonderful images of counter tops and back splashes with fossils inlaid in them. Wow!

What a neat idea, and so unique and educational! This would be a great conversation piece - why eat at a kitchen table when you can eat on top of a counter top that has ammonites and trilobites in it?

Hmm. Not sure that has much resale appeal.

I like it but I can't imagine a cleaning it, all those little bones to collect food particles in, maybe if they were embedded in some sort of resin or something that would make the surface flat. Of course those who can afford such luxuries are most likely not cleaning their own kitchens.

My husband and I have recently purchase marle for our bathroom redo which has little fossil-like components in it (it is a slightly greenish tint with the opalescent fossil spots). It makes it fun to look at, without being so obvious. These kitchens also look great with their large fossils. I have seen something like this before, and they often have a protective resin on them.

I like fossils, but something about this seems...ostentatious to me. I like kitchens to look like kitchens. This doesn't say "kitchen" to me.
I think I'd like them better if they were on a fireplace.

Heh, I love the big fish about to eat the little fish over in the left corner.
