Kitchen Spotlight: A Vintage-Inspired London Kitchen
London

vlk8.jpgThe owners of this 1856 flat in Central London built a functional modern kitchen around some meaningful vintage pieces -- like a refrigerator his parents bought when he was born, a vintage stove, old gas tea kettles from his grandparents and a china collection from hers...

vlk1.jpgA hutch holds the vintage china, and a storage nook where the Victorian fireplace used to be is used to house cookbooks and vintage food tins.

Vintage and modern appliances are stacked side by side in the long kitchen -- including a vintage stove whose green inspired the wall color. And they grafted the old door from a non-working vintage refrigerator to a new one to preserve a piece of family history.

This is beautiful! Another kitchen to dream about as I prepare to move and make the new one my own.

Thanks for the great pictures and further inspiration.

Gorgeous. I especially love the way they handled having so many different colors/patterns of dishes - keeping the warmer colors on the upper shelves with similar colored mugs and the cooler colors on lower shelves, again with the mugs. Definitely an idea that anyone with a mix of dishes (purchased and/or inherited) could utilize.

Eclectic in the extreme...This makes me feel warm and fuzzy and hungry! Now I don't feel so guilty for surrounding myself with my own kitchen heirlooms.
