Black cabinets, countertops, floors and appliances come in and out of fashion in kitchen design. But what about black paint? More and more people are painting at least one wall of the kitchen dark with chalkboard paint. But in this kitchen featured in Swedish magazine Skona hem, the far wall of a mostly white kitchen is painted in a matte black...

I love black, it is my favorite color. In this case though it just doesn't seem to fit right. I love the look of this kitchen, it is so bright untill your eyes slam into the wall.

I love black. I am living with the parents (inbetween college and career - for interior design) and am trying to convince my parents to embrace some more drama into their home, and what is more dramatic than black. I love this kitchen. This is what I would mine to look like, or at least feel like.

the yellow keeps the eye traveling around the room, and the black just gives a nice grounding contrast to the white.

I am facing this problem right now. Our kitchen is being photographed for a book in a couple of weeks and I've been toying with the idea of painting one wall a slate black to match the natural slate chalkboards we have but I don't want to sacrifice any light. I love having a light/sun filled kitchen. I'm horrible at figuring these things out. I just worry that I won't be able to translate all these good images into a real sun-filled kitchen (when not being photographed).

i'm tempted to paint my blah white door the matte chalkboard black. How easy is it to paint over it & get it back to white when i move out?
