Look! Tray For Magnets Over Stove

2008_10_02-Contest.jpgLook at this clever, pretty idea we just picked up from one of the entries in the Fall Colors Contest...

This is from the second Midwest entry:

Rachel's Bungalow of Bright Ideas (click to see all the photos from Rachel's entry)

Rachel hung a vintage metal tray over her stove; we love how it not only beautifies her kitchen but also serves a practical purpose. She can clip recipes and notes on with magnets, and the tray comes down easily for cleaning. This is a lovely and practical backsplash; we're thinking about something similar now in our own kitchen.

Do you use something removable and washable as a backsplash behind your stove?

*slapping forehead* Perfect!

Useful, pretty, individual, simple to use . . . Falls under "why didn't *you* think of that?" (Brini Maxwell)

Well done, Rachel!

I think this may have just solved my backsplash dilemma (I have a huge unsafe electrical outlet right where a backsplash should go above the stove). Thank you, Rachel!

I love the tray, how is it hung so that it comes off easily for cleaning?

The teapot is Martha Stewart from Macy's.

I just nailed through the tray and pre-drilled the holes in the wall. They are long enough nails and small enough holes that they fit snugly but it would be easy to pull the tray with the nails off for cleaning.
