We aren't in the middle of a kitchen renovation, sadly, or else we'd be stealing this idea. We love it: make use of a narrow, otherwise challenging space in your kitchen with a roll-out cabinet and built-in knife block. Another great roll-out cabinet below.
While the top photo shows a great way to keep your knives organized and out of the way — not to mention stored very efficiently — this second photo shows how a roll-out cabinet can be used to organize even more tall and skinny things: whisks, spoons, and oil bottles.
Now, neither of these ideas would be ideal, perhaps, if you have small children underfoot in your kitchen, but in an adults-only household we like the idea of having knives in a place where you can reach down and grab them. We also like making use of narrow, tall spaces to store tall and skinny items. It's an efficient use of space.

I love the idea, but as the article stated - there's NO WAY I'd have a cabinet llike that w/a 2 year old... I'd definitely have to find a way to lock it (and how much of a pain is it to lock an oft-used knife block?). Not so hot on the idea of storing my oils next to the hot stove either, unless there was REALLY good insulation - but I'd love to keep my baking sheets stored upright in there! Overall, it's a great idea. I love cabinets that make use of every nook and cranny.

I have to agree with Keltrue. It isn't safe to have knives or oils stored like that. That sort of cabinet would be perfect for storing cookie sheets or platters.

Great use of space, but I wouldn't do it for 2 reasons.
1. I like having my knives visible.
2. I don't like often used kitchen items (like utensils and oil) hidden in a drawer or behind a door. It comes from years of working in restaurants.

I agree w/Keltrue and Pigletliver; this would not work in a house w/kids or a house that ever expected to have a kid visit! The potential danger far outweighs the utility/convenience.
Also agree w/Zytkiewicz re hiding oft-used items. As P says, perfect for cookie sheets and platters. Also for trays and cooling racks.
The one rolling rack I have in my kitchen holds a wastebasket.
