Got a Spare Tile? Help This Woman Tile Her Backsplash

Blogger Zazazu is recently bought a little fixer-up house, and she's in the middle of renovating her kitchen. She wants to tile her backsplash, and to do this, she has sent out an unusual request to the blogosphere: Will you send her just one or two tiles? Read on to see why she is asking for tiles, and what she is going to do with them.

Zazazu says:

So, I’m asking all of you out there to send me a tile. That’s right, send me ONE tile, or several tiles! Just send tile! The only criteria is that it be 4 inches by 4 inches (10.16 cm x 10.16 cm). Besides that… have fun! Any color, design, patina, texture, etc. Just a 4 x 4″ tile. That’s it. Period. My hope is to have a lovely eclectic, mish-mash backsplash from all over the world! So… Please send me a tile!

We love the idea of reaching out to people who may indeed have just one tile left over from a kitchen project and incorporating tiles from all over the world into a kitchen. Do you have a tile to send her?

Thanks so much for the support! This project was set back a bit by unexpected open-heart bypass surgery on June 1. But, I'm better now and back to it! Will post pics as soon as I collect enough tile and get it put up. Pics will be posted on my blog and my Facebook... and hopefully here on "the kitchn" too! Thanks!

I have several tiles that we have 'collected' over the years for different projects and they are only collecting dust here. Most of the unique patterns have been discontinued, so have a blast!! They are on their way!!

zazazu, would you be interested in Talavera tiles? I have a few to spare, but they're slightly larger than 4" x 4".

Buca45 - Thank you for sending the tiles that you have collected. I know I will LOVE them!

Wrappedupinbooks - Yes, yes, yes! Love Talavera tiles! And larger than 4 x 4 will be fine. I've decided to lay it all out and use whatever sizes are sent to me, just as long as they are square or rectangular. I bought some small "filler" tiles to make it all work.
