Classic Kitchen: Frank Lloyd Wright's Pope-Leighey House

It is always interesting to peek into kitchens designed in an older generation. But this kitchen designed by Frank Lloyd-Wright for his Pope-Leighey House doesn't strike us as vintage or retro, aside from the appliances. In fact, we'd love to cook in its sun-warmed space.

It's rather small by some modern standards, but we like the proportions and the size. The brick and wood feel so warm and unfussy, and there are small, beautiful touches like the drawer unit next to the stove, and that huge window that lets light stream in.

If you take a look at the full tour of the house, you will see that there is also an herb planter right under this window. The lower part of the window opens so that the cook can lean out and snip herbs while standing right there in the kitchen.

One other note from the tour is that the kitchen cabinets all open towards the window and the natural light, to help make an electric light less necessary.
