You know we love yellow kitchens. We have a nook in the kitchen that needs painting and we've been pondering a warm mustard yellow. Well, this kitchen may have decided us: we're smitten with this color!

This little city kitchen practically oozes warmth and welcome. It's in an apartment that belongs to playwright and director John Patrick Shanley, and it was featured in The New York Times this week. Every room is painted a different vibrant color, with nods to Provence and gypsy caravans. It's surprisingly modern and inviting, though, even to those of us who prefer a more muted palette.
We're especially loving the kitchen, and it may have decided us: mustard yellow is one of the best, if not the best, color for a kitchen. We just love the warmth, especially with all that natural light streaming in and the beautiful veined countertop. And yes, about those countertops? They are made from blue quartz, which the owner says was "ruinously expensive." Well if we can't get the whole look, at least paint is cheap, right?

It looks great with all of that sunlight, but I'd be afraid it would look dingy at night.

I've had several yellow kitchens and loved them all. My favorite kitchen wall color is Peace Rose---an extremely pale yellow that compliments all other colors.

I love the yellow walls and bright, sunny, huge windows. Alas, without the giant windows, the room would be dark and discouraging to work in...just like mine. A bright window is the key to a happy kitchen.

Yellow is my mothers favorite color. As a kid I remember when our kitchen was yellow all over. It have the fifties colored tiles on the cabinet in a white and celery color. Yellow fridge and yellow stove. And topped off with that warm yellow on the walls. Wow, that yellow just takes me back.

I'm puzzled about the countertop. The article refers to it as stone with deep blue veining. I thought quartz countertops were engineered stone (Zodiaz, Silestone, Caesarstone.) I've never seen quartz with veining or in a color like that shown. I wonder if he means quartzite? The countertop in the photo looks like a blue-veined quartzite from Brazil, Azul Macaubas, which is indeed "ruinously expensive." Any way to find out?

I have been searching for the right yellow, almost got there with the Devine Butter, but once on the wall, it is too yellow. SunnyBlue, who makes peace rose, and where can I see that color?
Thanks!
