Elizabeth's post yesterday on creating a living room atmosphere in the kitchen reminded us of this moody, elegant kitchen. The atmospheric qualities of this kitchen definitely surpass any living room we've ever had!

This kitchen belongs to Heather Garrett, and it's in an old loft in North Carolina. Heather's style is elegant and stylish, while still remaining comfortable. This kitchen is so elegant; the wallpaper, candles, and lighting, as well as the sleek countertops, create a lovely look.
We also wonder if the low shelves protect the objects and tableware on them from grease and other kitchen debris.
What do you think? Would you like such an elegant and dramatic kitchen in your own home, or is this a little too moody for you?

It's definitely beautiful, but this sort of looks like a kitchen that no one actually cooks in. My impression could certainly be wrong, of course.

does anyone know who makes the wallpaper?

I'd kill to cook in this kitchen, it's one that you can be proud of dirtying up and then cleaning night after night. It would never get old for me!!

I need more light...my eyes are straining just looking at it. Though it certainly is moody & beautiful

I agree aoirghe. A real kitchen needs all that overhead wallspace for cabinets. This is very pretty, but maybe for a luxurious showhome kitchen only.

Very nice! I thought about the lighting too, at first, but I think the fairly bright lights under the shelves would take care of it.
(Not kitchen related, but I like that couch too.)

Holy cow, that's gorgeous! However, I agree that it probably doesn't see much serious cooking; I'd have a thin film of grease all over everything within a couple of weeks.
