Lately, we’ve been a little fascinated with the insides of refrigerators and freezers here in The Kitchen. But what about our refrigerator doors? A recent post on AT:SF of Allison Arieff standing next to her kid-decorated refrigerator reminded us that our cherished appliance has an exterior expression as well.
Magnets of all kinds, kid art and report cards, cartoons and newspaper clippings, appointment cards, poetry, alphabet letters, recipes, photographs...How does your refrigerator door reflect your life, your personality? Messy, haphazard, layered? Minimalist, functional, well-curated? What, if anything, do you have on your refrigerator door?
I used to have a bunch of magnets, coupons, invitations, and a wipeboard. We just painted in the kitchen and when I put everything back together decided to declutter and put the magnets on the side (still viewable) so the front looks nice and neat.

before renovating our fridge was jampacked with magnets and notes and phone numbers and junk... so after renovating we decided that we just didn't want to clutter up our pretty new room! so, two years later and still not a single thing on our fridge.
i prefer it this way, for reals.

My new fridge is stainless, so there is nothing on the front of it. On the small side that is exposed, there is one clip holding pizza coupons, a stainless measure-equivalent thingy, and a calendar from our State Farm agent. That's all. I like it like this.
When my kids were younger though, it was quite a different story. Then there were all kinds of school-related crap all over it.

tons of fun magnets, shopping lists, coupons, kid art, photos, flyers. It's a mess, but very home-y.

At my last apartment (and every one before that) my fridge was covered head to toe with magnets (some homemade!), lists, pictures, postcards, and pretty much everything I found amusing that was light and flat enough to be tacked up.
Now that I live with my boyfriend, his strictly minimalist aesthetic doesn't allow for junk on the fridge, so it's mostly blank. Except for a magnet from our go-to Indian delivery restaurant (hidden on the side) and a small needlepoint map of our neighborhood with the streetcleaning schedule, which he tolerates.

prior to the kitchn cure, my fridge was completely covered in recipes, both handwritten and printed. i think i probably had over 50 recipes on there! they are now neatly filed away in a binder, and my fridge has a simple adornment of cute magnets and wedding invitations :)

Pictures, the weekly menu and shopping list, all held up with magnets that I made that I'm rather proud of. They're the kind made with glass "rocks" and you glue an image to the back of them, then to a magnet. The magnets unfortunately are not very strong.

I have always wanted alphabet magnets. Ever since I was a child. My parents never liked a lot of stuff on the fridge. So when I bought my very first fridge, I bought alphabet fridge magnets to go with it. I live with 4 other adults so it usually is configured in obscene poetries. Just the way I like it.
