Hey, are you a fan of morels? We are! In fact, we have a whole packet of dried morels just waiting for the right tasty dish. But are you enough of a fan to put a giant morel on your refrigerator?

This delicious mushroom is made out of wood-grained contact paper, which keeps the price low and (supposedly!) you can remove it without leaving any mark. Is your fridge waiting for a mushroom, or do you think that these woodland delicacies should stay in the woods?

Are you sure that isn't one of the pods from Invasion of the Body Snatchers?

My darling father takes a trip to Iowa for a week every year to hunt these bad boys down. (I use the word hunt loosely. Really? Hunting?) He and his group of childhood friends shed their neckties for a 15-Passenger Van full of beer and camouflage. Yes! Camo! for MUSHROOMS!I'm sure the group of them would do this in a heartbeat!

I would put something else on my fridge, but that's not doing it for me. Maybe a mario themed mushroom instead...

Oh and since it's contact paper, it should come off easily. I did my kitchen tiles in one of my military homes with contact paper in an attempt to get rid of the fugly. Left the contact paper there for years and it came off pretty easily and no residue.

As much as I like to eat them, I would not want to decorate my kitchen with morels. And here is an easy recipe:
Fettucine w/ morel sauce (2 servings)
250 g of dried fettucine pasta
10 g dried morels
1 cup of milk
1 cup of cream
10 g butter
1 onion, diced
pasta to be cooked al dente.
soak the morels in milk for at least 15 min, then take, rinse slightly and cut.
milk to be sieved for sand and other impurities and set aside.
onion dices to be fried in butter in a pan until transparent, add morels, cream and "morel milk", cook until a creamy consistency. Season with salt, pepper and if required, with stock cube. For thickness, you may want to add some flour.
Toss the pasta and serve immediately. Enjoy!

It's almost time here in Michigan! (Well, OK, there's still 2 feet of snow in the woods, but this time of year we become overly optimistic.) If my husband, The Obsessed Woodland Forager, sees this we'll own it. I'm not sure I like it quite that much.
