The Daily Scoop: Roasted Plums with Tarragon Ice Cream

2008_08_01-IceCream2.jpgWe'll be bringing you an ice cream a day (at least) this month, what with it being Ice Cream Month and all. And we couldn't think of a better representation of seasonal ice cream right now than this recipe at the gorgeous food blog Cannelle et Vanille.

Fresh tarragon has a slight licorice or anise flavor that pairs very well with red, juicy, roasted plums like these. We can almost taste it already! We are excited to use fresh herbs in ice cream this month, and we're looking forward to your inspiration!

(Make sure you stick around for a very cool contest announcement on Monday!)

It would be great if you have recipes for yummy non-dairy (sorbet?) ices for us during ice cream month, too!

Oh definitely! Sorbets are wonderful. Here is one that echoes the recipe above, except the componenets are sort of inverted. It's my favorite sorbet, from my old personal blog:

Red Plum Sorbet with Lemon Verbena Cream

Also, here are another couple from our archives:

Spiced Apple Cider Sorbet
Spiked Lemon Ginger Sorbet
