Mona Lisa Eclairs At Fauchon
Paris

fauchoneclair.jpgThe modern French chef loves nothing more than to revisit the great classics of French cuisine. And this weekend, Fauchon on the place de la Madeleine is showcasing 34 sweet and savory éclairs dreamed up over the last four pastry "seasons" by pastry chef Christophe Adam, including a decorative homage to the world's most famous painting across town...

If you're in Paris today or tomorrow, stop by for pastry demonstrations and a selection of modern twists on the classic pastry with savory flavors like foie gras or salmon and peas and sweet versions including classic mocha or a new chocolate/almond combo. Decorated with gold leaf and camouflage, showered with coconut flakes, or painted like a da Vinci, they're more tarted up than your average éclair, and cost 5 euros for the pleasure.

If you're not in Paris, check out our recipe for D.I.Y. pastry cream and try making some yourself!

Very impressive. I made my first eclairs ever for Daring Bakers challenge last month and it was challenging enough without inventing a new filling or glaze recipe :)

Savory eclairs sound like a great idea!
