Look! Wallpaper in the Kitchen

2008_10_23-wallpaper1.jpgThere are times when a clean, simple, all-white kitchen looks like the perfect sanctuary to spend time cooking in. Then, we see a kitchen like this—with wallpaper that doesn't just add color, like a paint job, but texture and fun. What do you think? See more photos, below...

2008_10_23-wallpaper2.jpgWhen we see wallpaper in kitchens, we most often see it as a backsplash, used instead of tile. But we wonder about keeping it clean, especially in a small kitchen, where grease and gunk tends to splatter everywhere. The snakeskin, above, is a vinyl that's supposedly easier to wipe clean.

2008_10_23-wallpaper4.jpgYou can also cover the wallpaper in glass, like the blue and white panel above...

2008_10_23-wallpaper3.jpg...or use wallpaper on an accent wall (keep the cost down).

We think kitchens can sometimes be too streamlined and simple. Why not treat it more like a living room and add some pattern and pizzaz? But what are your thoughts?

I like it! That table and chairs, on the other hand, is totally cramping that space.

The presumption that kitchens are sometimes too simple and streamlined, is not based in reality. A kitchen used for its intended purpose is messy and chaotic. I think wallpaper makes it even more messy looking. The Palm leaves are making my eyes bleed..Ouch.

Love the yellow and green kitchen. Can't stand the palm tree kitchen - makes the room look cluttered and "overgrown." :)
