Can we love David Lebovitz any more? He writes a mouth-watering book full of homemade ice cream recipes then goes and makes a crazy jam of Shallots, Cocoa Nibs, Beer, and Prunes. As crazy as it sounds, we are dying to try it now.
He also gives some very helpful and sensible tips on jam-making in general. This jam is really more of a chutney, with vinegar, shallots, and sweet things like honey and sugar. For sheer educational value and inspiration it's our Harvest Month Daily Preserve.
