We came across this salad green at the Ferry Plaza Farmer's Market last weekend, and we'd never seen it before.
Seasonal Spotlight: Red Orach
It's known as Red Orach, Saltbush, or German Mountain Spinach. It's native to Mediterranean regions and is used as a salad green, and is also eaten cooked. We haven't tried it, so we don't know how it tastes. Have you tried it? How was it?

That looks so cool! I haven't seen it in our markets here... Heidi Swanson used it in her Ravioli Pasta Salad Recipe (which I love), so I'd definitely try it if I could get my hands on some.
