Try This: Add Lychees To Iced Tea!

2009_09_03-lychee.jpgWe love adding fruit to our iced tea – plums, berries, citrus ... and now our latest obsession: lychees!

We have been putting them in our cold brewed iced tea as it steeps for a wonderful sweetness and fragrance. You can use fresh or canned lychees. If you have the canned variety and you normally add sugar to your iced tea, try using the syrup, instead – heavenly!

This sounds great! Even better--add a lychee and a bit of lychee syrup to prosecco or champagne for an awesome cocktail!

If you got a cocktail shaker, add a quarter cup of chilled lychee syrup from the can, a handful of ice cubes and some iced tea; shake it all up and garnish with a couple lychees on a toothpick, and you've got a really refreshing drink during these hot summer days.

There's also a lychee liqueur that I love for making cocktails in the summer - it gives things an interesting twist and is delicious.

Lychees always remind me of my childhood- I used to go and pick them with my neighbours.
