Hot or Not? Rösle Kitchen Cell Phone Holder

2009-09-15-CellPhone.jpgDo you use your cell phone in the kitchen? Many of us rely on the iPhone now for recipes and information as we cook — but there's always a problem. How do you prop up that precious gadget where you can see it yet keep it free from food splatters? Here's one solution: a new cell phone stand from Rösle. Impressions?

Rösle is known for well-made yet pricey kitchen accessories like their open rail system. This cell phone holder is designed to hang on one of those systems, and it fits cell phones and iPods. You don't have to have a rail system though; there is also a mounting kit included that will let you mount it on the kitchen wall.

The cell phone holder has an opening in the back for cables; in fact, you can put your dock or charger in the base of the holder so your phone or iPod can charge right there. There's also a receptacle on the back of the holder for winding cables, and the whole thing is magnetic, in case you need a post-it note in addition to the recipes on your phone!

What do you think? Would this help you juggle phone and cooking?

• Find it: Rösle Kitchen Cell Phone Holder, $30 at Amazon. (Will be released shortly.)

isn't it bad for the phone to rest on a big magnet?

Only worthwhile because you could use that to hold lots of different things out of the way - recipe cards, (small) cookbooks, that kind of thing. I have next to no counter space in my apartment so anything that will get stuff out of the way is worth a shot.

I like the idea, I don't think that size magnet would be an issue. I have my charger in the kitchen, along with hubby's and tons of gagets. This would be a nice clean idea. I don't have a modern kitchen, so I would probably look at wooden for my Italian Bistro decor.
Thumbs up for me.

I really like it. I'm always putting cell phone in different places, I'd be nice to have a home for my cell phone while I'm in the kitchen.

Definitely a good thing. My blackberry is pretty much the only thing I use to view recipes (this site included!) and I'm constantly accidentally setting it down in a puddle of water, or some flour, or a puddle of water and then some flour. Luckily those things are resilient.

Unnecessary overhead.

At least, that's how the actual votes are leaning towards. :p
