Cranberry and Chocolate: Decadent Thanksgiving Desserts
Woman's Day

2009-11-11-Desserts.jpgAfter a heavy meal like a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, often all the dessert we want is a tiny sliver of pumpkin pie. Decadent is not a word that comes to mind, right after that epic meal. But we are also totally inspired by this spread of extra-rich Thanksgiving desserts. We wonder if a Thanksgiving dessert buffet, later in the holiday weekend, is perhaps in order?

2009-11-11-Desserts2.jpgWe actually love the look of these four desserts, each a twist on traditional Thanksgiving sweets. The Mile-High Pumpkin Pie, with a billowy layer of meringue, makes us interested in pumpkin pie all over again. We also really like the looks of cranberry chocolate cake.

Maybe we should forget Thanksgiving dinner and just throw a dessert buffet...

My family definitely takes a break (and sometimes a walk) between the meal and pie. (The walk sounds healthy, but actually it enables more pie.)

yeah, the family hangs out drinking an hour or two after dinner and then grabs dessert so we keep a nice selection

We actually do the dessert buffet thing. Big meal at lunch, then a break, desserts sometime later, and maybe (just maybe!) dinner that night.

Please one of you ambitious readers make the cranberry cake and tell me it works. I love the idea and it looks aweosme. To me dessert isn't dessert without chocolate so the thanksgiving dessert selection leaves me sad.

I have never had a problem eating dessert after Thanksgiving dinner. In fact, I usually eat three pieces of pie (apple, pumpkin, and pecan). But they're small pieces!
