• Crunchy, gooey, realistic looking candy bugs at Oriental Trading Company.

• Ever wondered how to make edible fake blood? Yes, me too. Foodphreak shows you how to get that nice red color.

• On a healthier note, Lime.com gives some tips for a "healthy" Halloween (as if!) with a good list of Fair Trade, natural, and organic treats.

• For the non-candy crowd, bloodshot devil's eyeballs, a.k.a. Devilled Eggs.

• Decorate with these simple, cute mini pumpkin tea-lights. D.I.Y. photos at Pink of Perfection.

• And finally, Laurie Colwin's Halloween, a classic essay in Colwin's inimitable voice, covering pumpkins, fake cobwebs, and a post-trick-or-treat meal that everyone will love.

My apartment complex is having a Halloween BBQ this Saturday so my boyfriend Joe has been tasked with BBQ'ing, Beer Can Chickens, Ribs, and some sort of beef offering. Meanwhile I am in charge of treats, I found some really silly, cute, and easy ideas from bettycrocker.com. So I am going to make Chocolate cupcakes with spiders and webs on them and candy corn cookies. Both of the recipes come from mixes but I am okay with that as I don't think I would have time to make from scratch. The candy corn cookies I am anxious to try. It is not as sickly sweet as it sounds, just use sugar cookie dough, divide it up and dye the sections in candy corn colors.
