Sweet Bread and Golden Eggs: It's Easter (Again)

2008_04_25-Easter.jpgDid you know that Easter comes twice a year? Well, sort of. Western and Eastern Christians celebrate it on different days, so while one eggs-n-bunny phase is long past, Orthodox Easter is this Sunday. Far more spring-like weather, we say!

In case you're celebrating Easter this weekend, here are a few good Easter recipes from our archive, including Pascha cheese with cherries, golden chocolate eggs, and a traditional sweet bread.

Thank you for posting this! My boyfriend is Russian Orthodox and this is just the reminder I need to surprise him with something. Orthodox fasting for lent is more strict than the Catholic fasting I grew up with, so I'm sure he would love a homemade treat!

Oh yes, my Orthodox friends have such a crazy feast on Pascha it makes me wonder if the fast is worth it. Such a cool picture and rhythm to the calendar.
