Look! Fabric Bûche de Noël

2007_12_19-YuleLog.jpgReader Kayte from Love Forever sent us this very ambitious bûche de noël.

She says, I wanted to share this with everyone at AT Kitchn. I hand-make plush food and my recent project was a fabric bûche de noël for the holidays. It was lots of work but so much fun!

Happy holidays and keep up the great work! I love cooking and eating food almost as much as I like sewing it!

Very nice, Kayte! But now we're hungry for a real live cake. Click for another photo and recipes for the classic Christmas cake bûche de noël...

Bûche de Noël or Yule log is a traditional French dessert served during Christmas holidays. It is usually decorated like a log in the forest and ready for the fire. They are usually made from sponge cake and frosted with chocolate buttercream and decorated with sugar, meringue, and marzipan to resemble snow, tree bark, fresh berries, and forest mushrooms.
