We watched LA Times food writer Russ Parsons' video on grilling that Faith wrote about last week and watched him slip on a simple mitt to lift the hot top of his kettle grill.
It's easy to assign an old oven mitt to the grill (like that toothbrush you now use to clean grout), but if you're in the market for something new, this one has some features that caught our eye...
Silicone is good for being heat resistant but it can be stiff. This glove from Uncommon Goods has a split for your index finger, so you have more flexibility to pick things up, pinch things that need pinching, and move things around on the grill.
We usually don't love silicone, but one reason we think it might be a good choice for a grill mitt is that it's easy to wipe clean. Charcoal is messy. Grills sit outside and get covered with gunk.
