Cuban Mojo: Marinade and Dipping Sauce

2008_7_5-mojo.jpgOne of our new favorite neighborhood restaurants in Chicago is a great little Cuban place, and we'll order just about anything that comes with their garlicky mojo sauce. When we came across this Flickr photo, we realized how easy it is to make mojo sauce at home. We plan to whip up a batch before we fire up the grill again this weekend.

Click below for the ingredient list and super-simple instructions.

Flickr user Chotda has beautifully presented these mojo sauce ingredients: blood oranges, olive oil, onion, bay leaves, garlic, cumin, oregano, lemon juice, salt and peppercorns. Everything but the bay leaves goes into a food processor or gets crushed together with a mortar and pestle. Add the bay leaves to the finished sauce, and it's ready to go.

The mojo sauce can be used to marinade meats, fish or even vegetables, but be sure to set some aside to serve as a dipping sauce. We have to warn you though – it can be quite addictive.
