We are big fans of cloth napkins, as we've mentioned in the past, but we hadn't considered fabric cocktail napkins until we saw this bin of them at the SoHo CB2.

Cocktail napkins are smaller than dinner napkins, and they're usually used to hold a glass wet with cold condensation, or to balance out tiny cocktail plates. They also keep cold, wet glasses from leaving marks on a bar.
We really like the idea of using cloth versions; they are reusable and just feel nicer in the hand. Since we would use them just for small cocktail parties with friends, we're not too worried about them getting thrown out with the bar trash.
These napkins from CB2 are very nice soft cotton, and only $9.95 for a pack of 8. They're white, so you can throw them into the wash and bleach out any wine stains.

Actually, you can not bleach them nor any hotel linens - they will fall apart. The bleach eats holes in them like swiss cheese. Instead, soak in Oxy clean prior to washing, works like a charm.

Tempting but the idea of having to iron each of those little squares is a huge deterrent.

I found the table napkins shopping at cb2 one evening and I must say they are a hit at dinner parties. It gave the party a touch of elegance that plain ole paper napkins wouldn't.
And the ironing... I think that's just a simple price one has to pay for a beautifully set table.

I hate to be a moron but this has been bugging me for ages...
what is CB2?
Crate and Barrel II or another store?
We obviously don't have one around here... and I haven't seen a catalogue for such a store.
Wondering why Crate and Barrel would need another division. Hmmm.
