I feel now that gastronomical perfection can be reached in these combinations: one person dining alone, usually upon a couch or a hill side; two people, of no matter what sex or age, dining in a good restaurant; six people, of no matter what sex or age, dining in a good home.
— M.F.K. Fisher, An Alphabet for Gourmets

The table looks nice, but the people in this picture look so unhappy...

They don't really look unhappy to me---just like they are trying to figure out exactly what they want with so many choices.

hahaha.. looks like a fun fajita party! Too many salsas, for sure.
Villagevegetable.. sounds like a fabulous weekend!
I'm attending a family friend's Indian pre-wedding festivity. I'm not at all sure what it will involve, but surely should be a cultural and culinary feast.

Maybe they are thinking ahead...about having to wash all of those dishes.

"one person dining alone" is kind of redundant yeah?
I think 6 people can dine in a restaurant successfully. I'd be interested in hearing the reasoning behind her thoughts. But probably not interested enough to buy the book to read. Oh well.
