Here's reader Renata with a great find and good question on where to find vintage American agriculture posters:
I saw these in my school library and wanted prints for my kitchen. Any idea where to find them? I especially like the "Eat more corn, oats and rye" and "Food is a Weapon" prints.

Here are a few good vintage poster sources. The best thing would be to just call them and tell them exactly what you're looking for. We also suggest contacting the website Fruit From Washington directly to see if they have any leads on the images they used.

I couldn't find reprints of the second poster, but there are several copies of the original. Most seem to be selling for at least $500, but this one is listed for quite a bit less.

Folks, WPA posters were paid for out of your tax dollars. (Metaphorically yours, at least.) They are government documents and thus all in the public domain. Do not believe the corporations when they tell you they own everything.

McGill Univerity has a large collection of vintage Canadian War posters (you can browse by subject), and they have an order form on their site (reprints are smaller, around 12" x 18" I think). They also link to other sites: http://digital.library.mcgill.ca/warposters/english/links.htm

The bottom one, "Eat Fruit, Be Healthy" was produced by the WPA in the thirties. There's a Library of Congress site that has this and many other WPA images:

Some of the best of the wartime food genre, in my opinion, were those produced in Britain. They have some for sale at the Imperial War Museum shop online:

You might want to keep an eye on Swann Auction Galleries' poster sales. They sell a lot of really high-end posters, but they're not all super-expensive.
