Good Question: Looking For Wall-Mounted Dish Rack

Reader Ann writes:

Williams Sonoma has sold all its wooden, wall-mounted, folding dish racks. No more are on order. They would not give me the manufacturer's name. I've searched the internet, but have come up with zero. Someone, somewhere must still be making those racks. Any suggestions for me other than making my own?

2008_07_22-Rack1.jpgAnn, we couldn't find the manufacturer of this rack either, but we did find a few comparable systems. Unfortunately most of these are in Great Britain, but you may be able to work out a good shipping rate.

• Top right: Wooden Plate Dryer, £43.99 at Pixmania.co.uk.

If you're willing to go for stainless steel, IKEA also has a very economical wall-mounted dish rack in its GRUNDTAL line. There's a similar but more expensive version made by Rosle.

2008_07_22-Rack2.jpgYou can also find stainless steel drying racks made in India at The Conran Shop:

Look at Indian importers and groceries; we imagine that you could find this much cheaper elsewhere!

Is anyone else looking for a wall-mounted dish rack like this? If you've had better luck, or if you have another good tip, share with Ann in the comments.

We have the Grundtal and love it. I think it even folds up for extra room but we always leave it down. We purchased an extra long bar to hang it on and picked up some cup hooks to go on that extra space, and we also have a basket for the silverware that fits on one side. It's been a brilliant space saver in our tiny place.

OH MY GOODNESS! That folding one is EXACTLY what I've been looking for as long as we've been in our new home! And you say they aren't available anymore?! Noo!
