I am a fizzy water fiend and need this in my house! I usually just drink fizzy water with a splash of lemon juice but I also enjoy a whiskey soda with bitters and a lemon slice now and then. :) And if I indulge a little too much in those, my favorite hangover remedy is to mix one part soda water to one part juice.

I've recently been making pink lemonade with winter's bountiful lemons and a bit of sour cherry syrup for the color. Sweet-tart and Festive! Then I go and look out at the snow and dream of summertime.

I also made a kick-ass "Pineapple Fauxmosa" for brunch the other day. Chopped up a fresh pineapple and let it macerate overnight with a hefty dose of vanilla sugar. In the morning, I liquefied it with my handy immersion blender, then mixed it with seltzer for a refreshing and fancy alternative to coffee.

I pretty much always have seltzer in the pantry to mix with flavoured syrup. Easier than handling lots of cans or bottles of sodas, and you can control the kind and amount of sweetener in the soda. Also, I've recently been looking into making a less-sweet tonic water for gin and tonic -- you buy quinine powder and mix it with seltzer, citric acid, a little simple syrup.

I use seltzer to make tonic water, based on this tonic syrup recipe:

http://projects.washingtonpost.com/recipes/2007/08/22/homemade-tonic-water/

It's WAY better than that high-fructose corn syrup stuff from the supermarket. And quinine keeps the malaria away.

Holy Cow! I would love to have the chance to try one of these out! My boyfriend and I go through at least two liters of seltzer a day. It's my favorite beverage, (next to champagen, of course- which I can't consume at the same rate for obvious reasons) and I've been using the soda fountain at work and my kleenkanteen bottle to transition away from using so many plastic 2 -liter bottles (from purchasing seltzer).
A little fresh lime juice is all it takes to make it divine!

We had something similar to this when I was growing up, but eventually had to get rid of it because we couldn't get the right kind of CO2 cartridges anymore. I'd love to have one again.

I love sparkling water, just straight, no syrups or anything. It gets to be expensive though, and then you have all the cans or bottles to recycle too. So this would be great.

This is right up my alley! I drink seltzer water all day long and spend a fortune buying it! I was not aware until today that there were gadgets like this you can use to make your own! I just love seltzer water with lemon and some fresh orange juicce squeezed in. You have to keep it simple so you can taste the freshing flavors. It you try and get too creative you end up not letting the flavors come out to their fullest potential. But if I had this gadget on my kitchen counter, I would most definitely be motivated to experiment more, but at the same time limiting my flavors to 2 at a time. Great contest!

When you mix it with seltzer water, one small container of CrystalLight powder (intended to mix with one quart of water) will nicely flavor between seven and eight two-liter bottles... I prefer the Ruby Red Grapefruit flavor (you can even taste a hint of "peel") although others here prefer the Lemonaide, etc...

This sounds great!

G'luck, all!

Seltzer water with gin and lime is pretty tasty.
I've used one of these when we chartered a boat in the Bahamas and a friend brought one. It makes pretty tasty soda-like drinks. My boyfriend especially likes that you can customize how much carbonation is in the water.
