Thursday Giveaway: Linden Knife Rack

2008_10_08-Giveaway.jpgGiveaway: Linden Sweden Wall Mount Magnetic Knife Rack
Find it: Purchase through Amazon, $38.99

We did a quickie giveaway earlier today with the 20-piece (TWENTY?) knife set that Sara Kate gave away to a knife-hungry reader. Here now is our rather less lavish, but no less exciting, Thursday Giveaway: a knife rack from Swedish kitchen goods company Linden.

This won't hold all twenty of those knives, but we bet it will hold the knives most of us keep in our kitchen.

After all, all you really need is a good chef's knife, followed by a nice sharp paring knife and maybe a bread knife if you have space.

This rack will store knives with blades up to 9" long. It's made of sturdy powder coated metal and it mounts on the wall, which is a nice space saver in most of our kitchens. It has a magnetic strip to keep the knives upright, and it also has a frosted, see-through plastic guard to keep sharp blades (and your fingers) safe. The plastic cover can be removed for easy cleaning. Total dimensions: 9.25" x 9.25"

TO ENTER THE GIVEAWAY: The entry process today is twofold.

  1. FIRST, fill out the form below with your name and address so we can get the product out to the winner quickly.
  2. SECOND, tell us about your favorite knife. What's your favorite knife, and why? You must submit the form AND add a comment.

Fill out the form AND type a comment in the comment section below by 8:59pm PT/11:59 EST Sunday, October 12, 2008. The winner will be selected at random. Good luck!

My favorite knife is my Chef's knife. Its a basic kitchenaid stainless steel 8" chef's knife, but it handles just about every job I need a knife for.

I recently held a 6" Wusthof chef's knife and while I wasn't really planning on getting one when I picked it up, I really wish I had gone back to Bloomingdale's during their bi-annual sale to get it.

the mezzaluna! by far! other than looking bizarrely out of place in my nice set, it chops my herbs like nothing. plus it gives me the safety of mind that as i'm chopping herbs as finely as i am, i'm also not this close to chopping off a fingertip.

A sharp chef's knife. I'd like to have two though- because I get in such a hurry when I cook, it'd be nice to have a clean one at the ready. It'd be nice to have more than 20 minutes to cook, but alas, two toddlers can create quite the mess in just a few unsupervised minutes.

I'm all about precision... and I feel like you can't be any more precise then with a pairing knife... whenever you want to carve small intricate designs into fruits to be places atop a panna cotta, or to top off pancakes, or whatever, a pairing knife makes it easy, and allows you to pull off amazing presentations that will make your guests go wow!!

My favorite knife is a Cutco chef's knife that I bought from my brother when he joined to earn some extra scratch to help fund his trip to Japan.

Now that I'm living with my fiance, I have taught him that you really only need three knives, but you must be willing to spend good money for a great knife and you must take very good care of them. This would be a great way to reinforce good care of great knives.

My favorite knife is my Wustof classic ikon 6" chef's knife. Although it's a little on the small side for a chef's knife, I'm fairly petite at 5'1", and I find that it fits my hand well. Also, it's beautiful! Clean cut, full tang, and of course, it slices through things like butter. It's well balanced, and has a good weight to it which helps it slice and dice. Finally, it was my first big purchase after working through my Christmas break at Williams Sonoma. I'd highly recommend it :)

I love this little paring knife I found at a thrift store. It says "Laguiole Inox France." It fits my hand like it was made for it, and the handle is bright yellow, which brightens up the kitchen.

Most certainly my Santoku. I actually feel bad for all of the other wonderful knives since this one gets all of the action!!

My favorite knife is the pocket knife I snagged when my grandfather died. He carried in WW2 and it was always in his pocket. I know -- not a kitchen knife! But beloved all the same.
