Yesterday Mark Bittman had an article dedicated to the smoothie, and at this time of the year when we rely so heavily on well, heavy foods, it would be a lovely change to have a healthy, refreshing, and light smoothie. So maybe with oranges now in season, some mint, and maybe pomegranate uice whirled up with honey and greek yogurt. Never tried this combo, but the thought of it is making me salvate. Mmm.

Thanks!

We've been making do with a stick blender, but it just leaves most things lumpy. So - one thing I would make is smoother pureed soups and applesauce. We are also expecting our first baby in May, and the need for a blender has become more immediate since we want to make our own babyfood.

Over the years, I have had blenders by numerous manufacturers. Not a SINGLE ONE has had the power to really blend a full container. The bottom part is swirling while the liquid and food at the top is just sitting there, unblended, unchopped, WHOLE. It annoys the heck out of me.

IS THIS THE BLENDER THAT WILL DO IT?

I'd love to find out.

If it worked, I would use it to blend my own special recipe of homemade ranch dressing.

my favorite korean dish is cold soybean noodle soup. As with any korean dish, there are multiple steps. First you soak dried soybeans, preferably organic. Then you boil the soybeans to get the skin or hull off; and then under cold water, take off all skins from the beans. Finally you put the beans in the blender and blend to a smooth mix, adding water to thin it out. Once done, you just pour the mix onto cold noodles, add salt and julienned cucumbers and enjoy! And of course, I would use the blender for pina coladas too ;)
