Yesterday we asked for photos and stories of your gardens. Here's our first submission, from reader Kelly. She says:
I had two new “firsts” this year: I planted my first garden; I got my first puppy. This is not a good combination.

In spite of my inexperience and Jack the beaglador’s enthusiastic interest, the zucchini prevails – a lone plant is thriving amid the chaos.
Above is a picture which, unfortunately, doesn’t show the blossoms. I swear they’re under there, though.
I also have a lime tree in a big pot that is finally beginning to produce blooms (after two years). I’m very optimistic that mojitos are in my near future.
The convergence of events in Kelly's life is chronicled here:

I had to laugh at the puppy running off with the plant tags! My MIL taught me a neat trick with that while we were planting my perennial gardens last weekend - she breaks off the part of the tag with the latin name and buries in on the right side of each plant. That way you can still find out what you're growing, but without the unsightly plastic doodads sticking up... also keeps them from fading in the sun and rain.

I like the idea another blogger had of taking digital pictures and labeling those. Of course for the super organized you could create a diagram of the garden and label each plant. Either way you wouldn't have to worry about leaving the plant tags out.
