Look! Something's Happening On Our Tomato Plant

2008_06_23-TomatoPlant.jpgTake a look at our little tomato plant. Notice anything different? No? Take a closer look...

2008_06_23-TomatoPlant2.jpgOur tomato plant is practically exploding with baby green tomatoes! We look and look and look some more - they're everywhere, like tiny green bubbles ballooning on the end of every stem.

2008_06_23-TomatoPlant3.jpgSome are no bigger than a pea; others are nearly as big as a ripe cherry tomato, and there are still yellow buds promising yet more green fruit to come.

2008_06_23-TomatoPlant4.jpgThis is a Tumbler container tomato plant - we highly recommend it. It doesn't need staking and it grows low, like a bush. But it's very sturdy, and as you can see, we expect a bumper crop of small tomatoes rather soon!

Holy cow! I can't wait until I get a place with a back yard (or at least a patio). I yearn to garden.

Good work! Our tomatoes are finally starting to grow too, can't wait until they turn red (or pink or yellow) and we can taste their sweet goodness.

It's nice you don't have to stake yours, I'll have to check into that plant for next year, I look forward to more pics as they grow!

Faith, did you grow this from seed or from a seedling? I got tomato plants from the farmer's market and from Gethsemane this year. So far blossoms, but no fruit yet.

Sarah - I got a small seedling at the greenhouse. It was about 12" around when I bought it, and it's grown very steadily. I'm really happy with it; it's the best container tomato plant I've ever had. All organic too; I'm not using any fertilizer or spray.

What variety is that in the picture? I'm looking for something that will stay low like that for next year. Thanks!
