Thursday Giveaway: VeggiChop Food Processor from Chef'N

2008_05_29-VeggiChop.jpgGiveaway: A DOZEN (12) Chef'N VeggiChop manual food processors
Find it: Buy at Cooking.com, $29.95

We ate our first dish out of the garden last night - a green salad with chives and herbs -and now we can hardly wait to chop up our cucumbers, tomatoes, and peppers into fresh salsa. To help you do the same, we are holding a truly fabulous giveaway today. Remember this Chef'N manual food processor, the VeggiChop? You can see a video demonstration here of this completely charming chopper.

We're giving away a full dozen! Read on for instructions on how to enter...

We think that this food processor a great option for some small kitchens. We speak from experience and say that making pesto and grinding nuts is indeed much, much quicker in a food processor than with a knife and two hands; but food processors can get expensive and are too big for many small kitchens. This one, on the other hand, has no handles to stick out and take up precious cupboard space; it's small enough to stack inside a bowl.

We also like that it uses no electricity! Just think - fresh salsa when camping, or at the park. Plus you get a workout when you use it. It's quieter than a regular food processor too.

TO ENTER THE GIVEAWAY: Want to win one of these 12 Chef'N VeggiChops? Tell us what you'd chop in the chopper! Salsa? (See some favorite recipes below.) Dip? Mirepoix for soup? Tell us in your comment!

Type a comment in the comment section below by 8:59pm PT/11:59 EST Sunday, June 1, 2008. The winner will be selected at random. Good luck!

I remember when you guys posted about this a while back, and I remember thinking that it was an awesome kitchen gadget!

I would use it for just about everything I use my regular processor for - hummus, pesto, chopped nuts. And because I frequently cook for just myself, I don't really need to use a big food processor bowl to make a few servings of hummus, so this would be absolutely perfect!

Salsa and bruschetta, my summertime and party staples. I make heat-less salsa (just onions, cilantro, garlic, tomatoes, and lime juice) that I put on top of EVERYTHING during the summer, and this would save my hands a TON of work from all the chopping that needs to be done.

I have an old worn-down one given to me by my mom that I use to make smoothies. It's an energy-saving solution for a yummy breakfast! Plus, as a cyclist I mostly focus on leg strength, so this helps keeps my arms in shape (sort of) :) The one I have now dulling and cracked in some places, so a new one would be awesome.

I have a tiny apartment (well, tiny by Southern standards, anyway) with a miniscule kitchen, so there's just not much room for a lot of fancy devices. This chopper would be awesome for making salsas, of course, but I'd use it even more frequently for guacamole. I can't get enough of that stuff lately, and right now I just chop everything myself!

Plus I've never been daring enough to chop all the goodies for pesto by hand. My knife skills could stand to improve.

I can't see just doing garlic in it unless you are doing a whole head of it.

I'd mainly use it for fresh salsa. I like to serve it on chicken and in black beans. Basically just tomatoes, garlic, onions, green pepper, banana pepper, little splash of vinegar, salt, little sugar and seasonings. Then I'd add some hand chopped cilantro.

I would say my mom's guacamole recipe, but the best part about it is mashing it up with your hands (stress relief and a good moisturizer!). I think there could be some good rustic berry/fruit compotes or salsas. Maybe even something savory to go with bread and cheese.

Somehow I don't mind chopping veggies but I hate to chop fruit. weird.
