Hot or Not: Flashlight Grill Tongs

2007_07_11-Tongs.jpg

When summer meals stretch into the evening and you're standing over the grill in the dusk, poking around to see if your burgers are still pink inside, then you may want a pair of these: Flashlight Grill Tongs ($50 from Red Envelope). They have a tiny flashlight embedded in the handle that streams light out between the tong blades.

We can't quite decide if these are brilliant or just plain silly. You tell us - would you spend $50 on tongs, or do you light your grill some other way?

They are funny but certainly not $50 worth. Reminds me of the Lillian Vernon catalog.

Lillian Vernon would offer to monogram them, too.

Bought these as a gift for Hubby - returned without giving. A bit of a joke, I'm afraid. Though, paying freight both ways, not so funny...

A headlamp might be more useful. Plus these don't look like they grip so well.

Better tongs, less than half the price...

A spotlight so I can see through the smoke would be nice!
