What's cooking this weekend? We have a lot of kitchen projects that we'd like to tackle, all inspired by posts and comments this week. Here is some of what we're (maybe!) doing this weekend. Of course, the weather is finally nice, so it may be crackers and dill and yogurt chicken salad in the park instead.
• Roasting chicken and vegetables for our Spring Cure assignment
• Making homemade dill pickles and chocolate matzo crack
• Trolling eBay for vintage Griffiths spice jars
• Looking for a local flea market (vintage French linen tablecloths!)
• Pondering a sourdough starter - are we ready to be good sourdough parents?

I'm having lots of folks over for a weekend fiesta! I'm making homemade tortilla soup and calabacitas as well as some homemade tortilla chips, horchata, and, of course, margaritas. Others are pitching in bringing various salsas, guacamole and dessert.

it's finally gorgeous here! and i was planning on doing a bike race until i realized that i have an eagle scout ceremony to attend! but that's okay, i will definitely find some time this evening to test out some new recipes and trying to resist the matzo crack that's in my fridge.

Since it's still cool enough to bake bread (sans bread machine), I'll be baking bread tomorrow.
Using a whole wheat, black bean, and raisin bread from this book. Sounds weird, but you can't taste the beans at all. It's a very tasty loaf.
