We're making a mexican-inspired but non-mexican dinner. Beef bourguignon tacos, roasted tomato soup, etc.

As per usual when my husband is away for the day or weekend, I am overly ambitious in my plans (especially given that I have a 6 1/2 month old daughter). In any event, so far today I've made some sweet potato baby food that went in the freezer, Bittman's no-knead bread studded with rosemary, and some white chocolate chunk, coconut and oatmeal cookies for a girlfriend who was very generous in handing me down some baby clothes and toys. Tomorrow after my daughter and I hit the farmers market with another girlfriend, the plan is to make some turkey meatballs for the freezer and perhaps slow roast some tomatoes myself. Dinner tonight is (frozen) ravioli with crab (gotta love Costco) with a butter, wine and herb sauce and tomato salad with feta and cucumbers. Tomorrow's dinner plans include salmon and whatever veggies get picked up at the market.

We made a great dinner tonight for four friends (two couples)--a white bean soup with chicken broth, chicken picatta from Ina Garten's inspiration, plates of carrots with orange zest, zucchini with lemon, an enormous bowl of green beans, pasta by my sweetie with plum tomatoes and basil from a friend's garden, and then a peach-raspberry crumble. All the veg and fruit came from the farmers market. We drank lots of wine, plenty of water, and ended it with pear brandy from Clear Creek Distillery. Divine!

There was quite a bit of cooking this weeekend: Italian chicken salad, red cabbage slaw, pecan cookies and crab dip.
And I ate a lot of it too :)

Yesterday I BBQ'd with my gf and her parents. I grilled a 4lb pork loin, dry rubbed with a spice mix I made consisting mostly of rosemary, ginger, garlic, and black pepper. It was yummy.
