What's Cooking This Weekend?
Weekend of August , 2008

2008_08_22-Cooking.jpgWhat's cooking this weekend? We're taking a break from ice cream (although we'll have the results of a very interesting experiment to show you Monday) and focusing on lazy breakfasts and a good dinner with friends. What are you planning on eating this weekend? Here are a few posts from this week that may inspire...

Eat some of this!
Braised pork shank - worth turning on the oven for.

A perfect tomato sandwich - no cooking required.

Something hot and spicy with a crisp glass of cold wine.

Candied mint leaves - good for nibbling and not just garnishing.

Root beer milk!

Ice cream, ice cream, and more ice cream - Check out all the contest entries. We're overwhelmed by all the great recipes!

Shell beans - So good fresh. If you've only eaten dried beans, now's the time to try the good stuff.

Tomato jam - Yum!

Baked summer squash - Easy and healthy.

Have a great weekend, and see you Monday...

It's pouring down rain here (the remnants of tropical storm Fay) and I can think of nothing better for a rainy Friday night than spicy Thai squid eaten from a takeout box in front of the tv with my honey.

It'll depend on what's in the CSA, but probably nothing too fancy. Maybe try those rosemary flatbeards as blogged on Smitten Kitchen.

Not what's cooking, but what's eating.........hubby and I are going to a VERY posh wedding in Playa Vista, CA. The food is expected to be out of this world, and that's pretty much the only reason we're going. Hehe. We suck.

Having some girls over for the Daring Bakers treat (sorry, can't reveal what it is: wait till August 31st). Also making white bean dip w/lemon and garlic and baguette sandwiches with brie and onion thingie (not sure what to call it, but it's slowly cooked onions with curry and cumin powder)
